Using a Rowing machine at a Home Gym

A rowing machine is an excellent choice for your home gym because it offers a combination of cardio and strength training.

Dumbbells types to use in a home gym

The most common type of dumbbell is fixed dumbbell.

You will see many gyms using it but not worth it for home use.

I am sure you would not want 10-12 feet of horizontal space to be occupied with dumbbells.

These are generally hex dumbbells as well.

Another type of dumbbell is the adjustable dumbbell.

These are particularly suited to home gyms since they come in one piece and are adjustable from a low weight, usually 2.3 kg, up to a higher weight, depending on the set.

For starters, I would suggest that you get 28mm barbell and 28mm weight plates. If you are running on a low budget.

Otherwise, jump to standard Olympic bars and weight plates.

I was just doing high reps, no heavy reps like bodyweight*1x.

Not really.
