Does treadmill consume a lot of electricity in India? That’s the question we’ll unravel in this article. I’m Samarjit Sinha, an advocate of treadmills for efficient weight loss. The good news is that using a treadmill for just 30 minutes a day won’t significantly spike your electricity bill.

We’ll dive into the key factors affecting electricity consumption, such as motor type, capacity, running speed, and workout duration. You’ll even find a formula to estimate treadmill power usage. To provide a practical perspective, we’ve listed popular treadmill models in India along with their power consumption. So, before investing in a treadmill, consider these insights for a balanced fitness journey.

Check the power consumption in KW, and the calculation below.

Does treadmill consume a lot of electricity in india

Power Consumption in KW vs. Treadmill Model

One easy way to figure out the power consumption of a treadmill is this:

1 HP = 746 watts per hour.

So if you have 2 HP treadmill, then it will be 2*746 watts.

Electric bill is measured in KW (kilowatt) so a 2 HP treadmill consumes 1492 watts. 1492 watts is 1.492 KW or units.

Multiply the unit with the cost of electricity and you will get the electricity bill.

Here are some popular treadmills in India and their power consumption chart

Sparnod Fitness STH-1200 (3 HP Peak)2.238 KW
Durafit Ranger Multifunction 3.5 HP (7.0 HP Peak)5.222 KW

Here are all the treadmills that you should get for your home.

Btw manual treadmills do not need any electricity.

What Factors Determine the Electricity Consumption of a Treadmill

Treadmills are one of the most energy-efficient workout equipment that can offer you an intense workout and still keep you cool during long sessions. The main factors influencing the power consumption of treadmills is the motor type.

While we should also take into account a number of other factors, like running speed, user weight, worn out belt degree, this is a step-by-step guide to help you learn how to tighten your belt, if you haven’t already.

Can You Put Treadmill on Carpet

Motor Type

A DC motor treadmill consumes a less electricity when compared to non DC motor. But now a days most of the treadmill do come with a DC motor. These motors are energy efficient.

Motor Capacity

Higher the motor capacity, higher the electric consumption will be. You can see from the chart that premium treadmills of 7 HP consumes almost double electricity than a basic treadmill.

Speed

The faster you run, the more fuel you use and the more energy you consume. So if you work at full speed for half an hour, your energy consumption will be much higher than it is if you only work at half-speed for half an hour.

Does treadmill increase height?

Duration of usages

The longer you use the treadmill, higher the electric consumption will be. If the treadmill is at home and is used by multiple individuals, it may be a little more demanding to measure, because everybody goes or runs at different times.

Treadmill and knee pain!

Conclusion

Treadmills are a great way to burn calories and improve fitness. However, they can also be a costly investment. When looking to purchase a treadmill, it’s important to consider how many people in your home use the treadmill as well as how much electricity it consumes. If you live in an apartment, a home gym may be a better option for your needs. Do you have any questions about electric usages in India? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Yo Friends, this is Samarjit! A skinny guy who is building his tiny home gym.

I have successfully gained 10 kgs in 10 months going to commercial gyms. And I have been working out on and off for about 10+ years now.

I have gone swimming, done martial arts, Olympic lifts and body-building-type workouts!

I canceled the gym subscription as I was more into making my home gym for workouts. And getting ready, then getting my cycle and ride to the commercial gym seemed a drag after 10 hours in the office.

Thus, I needed a home that I could access at any moment!
And I started building my home gym!

I had to research a lot to build my home gym and decided to share effective, budget-friendly home gym machines, and nutrition to buy as per your goals here in homegymindia.in
